Welcome to the Stadium Runners Newsletter. We hope to keep you informed about what has happened and what will be happening in the wonderful world of Stadium Runners. Please contact me if it is still being marked as spam for you and I will try and help to resolve the problem.

One or two Stadium Runners avoided volunteer duties and managed to get out on the moors on a super day for running. Here's how they got on:

Wed 1st Jun, Chase The Sun Tatton 10k. Luc Burnip came 1st in 33:50. James Gudgeon came 138th in 56:41. Simon Gudgeon came 147th in 57:19.

Sat 4th Jun, Wharfedale Trail Half. Ian Bitcon came 202nd in 2:41:25. Anthea Bitcon came 203rd in 2:41:26.

Sun 5th Jun, IGUN Wuthering Heights Marathon. Ashleigh Greenwood came 1st in 3:40:52.

Wed 8th Jun, XO Race Leeds. Adam Goodall came 21st in 1:30. Michaela Goodall finished in 1:13.

Fri 10th Jun, Ladybower Trail Marathon. Steve Carson & Andrew Bowett came 5th/6th in 3:27.

Sat 11th Jun, IGUN Summer Extravaganza 20m. James Hughes came 1st in 2:33:18.

Sun 12th Jun, Leeds Triathlon. Leo Timmins came 108th in 2:17:27.

Thu 16th Jun - Sun 19th Jun 4 Day Tour of Thameside.
Thu X-Trail 10k. Joe Baker came 5th in 36:23. Darren Earnshaw came 25th in 42:23. Helen Ansell came 97th & 7th female in 48:05.
Fri Hell on the Fell 6m. Joe Baker came 3rd in 38:10. Darren Earnshaw came 27th in 45:12. Helen Ansell came 90th & 8th female in 51:44.
Sat Hero Half Marathon. Joe Baker came 1st in 1:17:36. Darren Earnshaw came 29th in 1:35:23. Helen Ansell came 69th & 6th female in 1:42:56.
Sun Dr Ron Hill Hyde 7m. Joe Baker came 3rd in 38:37. Darren Earnshaw came 44th in 47:10. Helen Ansell came 83rd & 7th female in 49:53.
Overall. Joe Baker came 1st in 3:10:46. Darren Earnshaw came 20th in 3:50:08. Helen Ansell came 62nd and 4th female in 4:12:38 and was 1st FV35..

Sat 18th Jun, School Run. Ian du Feu came 4th in 49:40 and was 1st M50.

Wed 22nd Jun, Truro Trail 10k. Andrew Doig came 22nd in 48:33 and was 3rd M55.

Sun 26th Jun, Eccup 10 Mile. Kathy Armitage came 244th in 1:21:12 and was 4th F50.
Sun 26th Jun, Smugglers Scuttler Half "A pirate and smuggling themed half marathon with an actual shipwreck and a pirate you need to retrieve your contraband from in order to trade for your medal upon finishing". Andrew Doig came 1st in 2:14:38. Impressive trophy, but sadly no photo of Andrew dressed as Cap'n Jack Sparrow.
Brilliant work everyone! More races to come. Apologies if I missed your race. Feel free to let me know about your racing achievements.
parkrun Highlights

Sat 4th June, Huddersfield. Tom Jagger came 2nd in 17:20. Leo Timmins came 3rd in 17:37. Ian Whalley came 30th in a PB 20:53.
Brighouse. Michael Cottam came 1st in 18:13.
Hamsterley Forest. Chris Howarth came 9th in 25:35.
Wakefield Thornes. Thomas Schoolar came 4th in a PB 18:50.
Buckingham. Luc Burnip came 1st in 16:49.

Sat 11th June, Huddersfield. Joe Baker came 1st in 16:53. Tom Jagger came 2nd in 17:11. Michael Cottam came 3rd in a PB 17:12. Steve Carson came 7th in 18:25.
Brighouse. Gareth Eagleton came 4th in 19:59.

Sat 18th June, Huddersfield. Tom Jagger came 1st in 16:58. Leo Timmins came 6th in 18:36.
Penistone. Steve Carson came 5th in 19:17.Amy Oatway came 46th in a PB 26:08. Dan North came 47th in a PB 26:10.
Clare Castle. Michael Cottam came 2nd in 18:33.
Trelissick. Andrew Doig came 7th in 21:00.

Sat 25th June, Huddersfield. Tom Jagger came 1st in 17:10. Michael Cottam came 5th in 17:52. Leo Timmins came 6th in 18:03. Joe Baker came 7th in 18:03. Thomas Schoolar came 9th in 18:52.
Give Running A Go
Ey up Stadium Runners.

I would just like to say a few words about the Stadium Runners GRAG (Give Running A Go).

This GRAG programme has been amazing, I have really enjoyed coaching athletes who haven’t run before and athletes who have had a break from running and are getting back into it.

We made it nice and easy going with no pressure of running fast or distance. Just helping the athletes how to run and build their fitness level up and most of all we had some great fun.

A big thank you to Stadium Runners for inviting me to run my first GRAG programme, it is very much appreciated. I would also like to say a big thank to the Run Leaders who supported the GRAG through the 8 weeks, what great team we have, Sue Green, Simon Gudgeon, Bridget Hughes, Alison Clare Cottam, Linda Spencer, Liz Mather, Julie Wootton. 

Finally a message from Jayne (who did Give Running A Go):

"Just wanted to say a big thank you to Martin and all at Stadium runners who helped us and made 'give running a go such an enjoyable experience.' I've made some new friends and learned new techniques that will help me develop into (hopefully) a more capable runner."

Membership renewal 2022/23
 
Since April 2022, the start of the new athletic year, ninety-eight runners have either renewed or joined the club for another year.

For those of you who have recently received reminder emails about renewing your membership and not yet renewed your membership, your affiliated membership with Stadium Runners ended on 30th June 2022. You will not now be able to enjoy the benefits of running with a very friendly inclusive running club, take part in the free runs on offer, attend the development sessions or enjoy the benefits and discounts offered by the club and UK athletics.

If it is your intention to renew your membership, contact me as soon as possible, at membership@stadiumrunners.co.uk or see me at the club on either Monday or Thursday next week and if I don’t hear from you by 7th July at the very latest we will assume you are not re-joining and remove your name and contact details from the data base.

Stadium Runners Milestones & Achievments

Laura Jackson has now reached the 100 run milestone for the club.

The 2022 Attendance League figures up to and including 27th June have been done.

On Monday there is currently a three way tie on 19 between Sandra Emmerson, Linda Spencer and myself (John).

On Thursday Andrew Smithson has 21 followed by Peter Martin and Fiona Willis both on 20

Andrew Smithson with 37 has the most runs in 2022 followed by Rob Buchanan with 36 and Simon Gudgeon and Matt Smith with 33.

The next Rockhoppers Tuesday session will be the spring & summer runs which start and finish at a pub, going from different pub locations around Huddersfield. These sessions will start at 6:30pm.

The Rockhoppers Saturdays start and finish at a coffee shop for refreshments.
