What, More News?

A change is gonna come.

Good morning,

New date for the Joe Percy 10k

As this race is one of the highlights of the running calendar in this neck of the woods it's best to give you all as much notice as possible about race changes. Here is the full skinny from your shiny new race secretary Rob Buchanan

Joe Percy 10k 2017 date change!

Wanted to give you all plenty of notice that the date of this years Joe Percy 10k has changed, it is now Wednesday 14th June 7:30pm.

This race is open to all club members and the club also pay your entry fee. It's a great local race supported by lots of other local clubs and takes place around and about Farnley Tyas near Storthes Hall.

It's a road race and although there are a couple of undulations it's not a bad race for those wanting to give racing a go for the first time as there is always plenty of support.

Any questions speak to Rob Buchanan on a club night or get in touch some other way.

Further details about registration will follow closer to the race date.

To get in touch with Rob about this please feel free to borrow this delicious plump breasted pigeon, answers to the name of Speckled Jim.

Cross Country Bling

The club has been taking part fully in the West Yorkshire Winter League for a few years now and it's always nice when club members walk away with some silverware at the end of the season.

At this year's awards bash it was all about doing better as Amy Oatway and Mark Davies won for Most Improved Female and Male respectively. As this is early in the running year I expect them both to be collecting even more gongs at the end of year Stadium Runners Awards night. A huge well done to both.

This is not a joke.

Stadium Runners Parkrun Takeover, Saturday April 1st.

This is the perfect opportunity to help promote the club to other runners and go along to Greenhead Park and check that that morning's Facebook story about a meteorite hitting the wonky lamppost is not true. The more volunteers we have there on the day then the better the atmosphere, the louder the encouragement and the more awesome Stadium Runners looks, so don't delay get hold of Alison Cottam and register your interest to help. If you aren't helping on the day but are running then please bedeck yourself in your shiniest Stadium Runners finery, let's not be subtle (I'm not even sure what that last word means) If you are volunteering then don't forget to get there a little earlier for briefings, various tasks etc.

Socially Acceptable

Stadium Social: Saturday March 25th 7:30pm

Apparently it's to celebrate births, birthdays and awesomeness but I think that it may be more of an effort to satisfy cheesy chip cravings but it still sounds like a great idea. The plan looks like a 7:30 meet up at The Grove followed by a stagger round some of the more salubrious drinking dens of Huddersfield.

Parkrun Times

Don't forget that your Parkrun times count towards the GP & WAVA but only if you actually send them to Rob Buchanan. Currently Dan North has a full 25 points in both categories as he appears to be the only Stadium Runner who takes part/has an e-mail account. You need to send your Parkrun text or e-mail to Rob (otherwise he'd have to trawl through the results and that would be silly) contact him here

GRAG

Next week sees the return of Give Running A Go which aims to help and encourage runners to join the club and improve their running. Full details are below and don't forget to spread the word.

Don't forget there are more races coming up, here's a reminder.

Race 4

The fourth race on the club calendar is a nice looking half marathon around Sheffield and you have all of February and March to get your distance legs in order. Judging by the entry fee this should be a very well organised race with goodies such as a medal or a Porsche for every finisher.

Sheffield Half Marathon Sunday April 9th 9.30am full details here

Race 5

Ackworth Half Marathon Monday April 17th 9.30am

A flat road half marathon so a chance to stretch the legs that little bit further and put down a good time. Unusually the race is on a Monday, Easter Monday to be precise so if that doesn't make it worth entering then I don't know what will (Your own body weight in Easter eggs, I see) Click here for full details

Sportsshoes code

For March use VTZ9 to save 10% and get free delivery when you buy some stuff which if you were being honest with yourself you really don’t need but the colours were nice and it makes you feel faster when you buy new kit and anyway it was looking at you in a suggestive manner so what could you do but buy it? Click here to do it anyway.

Calderdale Way Relay

We have teams! Keep an eye on the notice board for updates and if you'r not running then feel free to go along and clap and indeed whoop.

Don't forget to keep your eyes on the Stadium Runners Facebook page as it's always bang up to date and pretty awesome.

Right then I'm off to put beef dripping on my knees, well, you never know!

Keep running back.

Contributions are really appreciated: If you run with Stadium Runners and have an experience or observation you want to write about, please send it in using the contact form. Your entry should have something to do with running! It could be a race report, stuff about training or nutrition, a book review etc.
