[Stadium Runners] Newsletter - September 2019

Welcome to the Stadium Runners Newsletter. We hope to keep you informed about what has happened and what will be happening in the wonderful world of Stadium Runners. Please contact me if it is still being marked as spam for you and I will try and help resolve the problem.
(Wo)Man v Barge, Sat 10th Aug
A super day out was had by the 27 Stadium Runners who ran the race. The most noticeable absentee was the barge, which failed to make any sort of appearance. Other than that, things went pretty well. A testing, but thoroughly enjoyable course up & over the moors. The weather wasn't great, but was much, much better than the forecast. And the drinks and chip butty at the end hit the spot, though the butty queue looked a bit daunting at times. Good beer in the Diggle Hotel too.

Our top runners were:

2nd Jamie Brannan      33:28
5th Michael Cottam      36:29
6th Jonny Cartwright    37:16

31st Michaela Goodall  44:04
49th Lynn Birchall         47:46
63rd Rachael Hey         50:30

Superb running everybody.
Wetherby 10K, Sun 1st Sep, 2pm

The weather in Wetherby was better than in Huddersfield, that's for sure. It stayed fine most of the time, other than a nasty little downpour around 2:30pm. A mostly flat course, made more "interesting" by the off road section just after the start. I wouldn't describe it as a PB course myself, but clearly some Stadium Runners proved me wrong :). 23 Stadium Runners participated on the day - a few double bookings and a plumbing incident kept some away. Our top runners were:

6th F   Lynn Birchall         40:32 1st F45
18th F Anthea Bitcon       43:54 3rd F45
30th F Kathy Armitage     46:33

10th Jamie Brannan        34:46
13th Tom Jagger              35:14 2nd M40
42nd Michael Cottam       38:44

Your newsletter editor also managed 3rd M60.

10K PBs on the day by Matt Smith, Anthea Bitcon & Simon Gudgeon.

Full results here.

Top running by everyone on the day.

Beck Busters 10K, Sun 15th Sep, 11am
The next event on our Club Calendar is the Beck Busters 10K.  It is a multi terrain 10K race starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Bishop Monkton, near Harrogate. It starts and finishes in the village, taking a circular route that starts on road before heading alongside the river Ure and then beside the canal, through the pretty village of Littlethorpe before heading back across country to Bishop Monkton. Finally, the race will finish with a run through the beck. Not sure if that is the beck in the photo above, but if it is, then it's not in the same class as the Bluebell river crossing.

You can take a look at the route here.

Only 9 Stadium Runners had signed up the last time I checked, which is a shame - book here.
Marsden 10 Cheque Presentation
In conjunction with Colne Valley Lions we presented a cheque for £1,000 to the National Trust Marsden Moor Fire Appeal. This was part of the proceeds from the Marsden Ten Mile Race in June, as a result of which we raised over £3,000 for local charities.
