[Stadium Runners] Newsletter - January 2021

Welcome to the Stadium Runners Newsletter. We hope to keep you informed about what has happened and what will be happening in the wonderful world of Stadium Runners. Please contact me if it is still being marked as spam for you and I will try and help to resolve the problem.
Hasty Rewrite

The January Newsletter was all set to go on Monday lunchtime. Fortunately, it didn't get sent, otherwise it would have resulted in another "What a Difference a Day Makes" email having to go out.

So, I have had to get the virtual scissors out and chop quite a lot of content that is no longer relevant in lockdown.

It was good that lots of us managed to get the first Training Run of 2021 in on Monday night. Sadly, it might be a while before we get to do the second Training Run. In the meantime, hopefully we will all keep active & motivated, whilst obeying the current restrictions.

National Lockdown

Following the news of another national lockdown until at least mid February, training sessions are suspended until further notice.
According to the government website:
‘You can continue to exercise alone, with one other person or with your household or support bubble?.?  This should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area?.? You should maintain ?social distancing?.’
So, why not reach out to another member local to you, buddy up and keep each other motivated!
Take care and stay safe everyone.

Running Milestones

John and Alison have been busy behind the scenes updating our 2020 attendance records.

Attended the most Monday nights:
- Rob and Russell (23 out of a possible 28 nights)

- Brendan (25 out of a possible 28 nights)

Rob has attended the most overall with 46 runs.

Congratulations, great work everyone!

For more homework ideas throughout the next period of lockdown, or to give your running something different to think about over the next few weeks if you are lacking a bit of self motivation, then have a browse of my YouTube channel. It has dozens of free workouts that don't require any kit at all and will get you stronger and more robust to get through this winter spell, as well as being some indoor exercise for when the weather is pants.

Run Leaders Required

Stadium Runners is always very grateful to all our run leaders, new and not so new. Stadium Runners simply wouldn’t happen without the dedication and commitment of run leaders who regularly give up their time to ensure all the groups stay safe and have a fun and challenging experience. But particularly over the last few months, our run leaders have been fantastic and we owe it to them that the Club has been able to offer safe and enjoyable sessions again.

We are always looking for new run leaders and can offer training, equipment and lots of support. The chance to say “not far now” and “that’s all the hills done” and other well known motivational (but not always true) phrases.

This course is now available as a virtual course.  England Athletics have announced a number of dates for a new online Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course, and they plan to release more dates in the future.

If you would like to know more about how to join this amazing team, email Bridget at or ring me on 07540 434573
