Run Leader Rota

The Rota for Apr - Jun is available here.
Give Running A Go

Stadium will be running Give Running A Go sessions again on Mondays in May & June at Leeds Road Playing Fields. They start on Mon 9th May and run for 8 weeks until Thu 30th June. Martin Wright will be Head Coach for the 8 sessions, with Bridget as second in command and assisted by Sue, Simon, Rob, Liz, Russell, Linda & Jonny.

If you can think of anyone who would like to join, then please let them know about GRAG.
Stadium Runners AGM

Our AGM will be taken place at 7pm on Tuesday 26th April at the Stadium (room tbc, not on Zoom as previously stated). All paid up Stadium members are welcome to attend, so please do join us!

It would be great to see some new faces at the meeting, and of course at our committee meetings too. We have a couple of roles available this year, so if you are interested, please let Ashleigh know ahead of the AGM.

Social Secretary - Now we can socialise again it would be great to have someone take a lead on this for us and make sure we spend some time together outside of our training nights! This role is very much appreciated by the club and really helps moral amongst the runners! This person would also lead on organising our awards night, with much support from the committee. How great would it be to finally have an awards night again?!

Run Leader Rota - We would like to appeal for someone to manage the Run Leader rota please. This has been done by Ashleigh for a few years now and it would be nice to have a fresh pair of eyes to look at this. It's nice and straight forward to do (Ashleigh can share the system!) and keeps the club organised on training nights.

Also, if anyone wants to join the committee in general, in a non specific role, then you are absolutely more than welcome to do so!

If you have any questions ahead of the meeting, please do speak to Ashleigh or another member of the committee.

Stadium Runners Race Calendar 2022/23

Cake Race Saturday 30th April at 11am – 10 miles and 1700ft of climbing, lots of cake!

Bluebell Trail Sunday 8th May at 10am – A race that needs little introducing, 10.3 mile multi-terrain race noted for the lovely Trooper Lane climb and the river crossing finish. Bad news is if you aren’t already in it! Hard Cheese as its sold out! 2020 places have been carried over to this year.

Buxton Half Marathon Sunday 29th May at 10am. – Single lap route taking in views of the lovely Peak District countryside. A rather big hill in the first 6 miles!

Helen Windsor 10k Wednesday 6th July at 7.15pm – another classic! An undulating quick race around the hills of Greetland.

The Hepworth Trail Wednesday July 20th at 7.30pm – A Newie! Our friends at Summer Wine Trails have a new race for 2022! 5 hilly miles around the Holme Valley!

Colne Valley 10k 21st August at 10am– A Matt Pattison classic!

Heights 10k Saturday 3rd September 2022 at 12pm. Staying in the Colne Valley, this undulating trail race heads over the hill to Meltham with a quick flyby of Blackmoorfoot Reservoir.

Shepley 10k Sunday 11th September at 11am – Switching to the Holme Valley, this race has a fast start followed by a fast finish with a killer middle section.

The Stairway to Heaven Saturday 1st October at 11am – A challenging hilly course heading towards Ramsden Reservoir and the forested paths around Hade Edge.

Lancaster Half Marathon Sunday 6th November at 11am – A new race to the calendar! Nice and flat for PB hunting! Early days but hopefully planning on putting on a coach for the trip.

Ambles Revenge, Penistone Date TBC – 8 Miles of steep trails and dare I say it ‘fells’. A few club members ran the race in 2021 and noted how horrifically tough the race was so as Race Secretary I feel it is only fair that others suffer this year. to 2021 Race)

Kirkstall Calverley Cutter Sunday 28th Jan 2023 at 11am 10 Mile race along the River Aire taking in the surrounding countryside.

Liversedge Half Marathon 2023 Date TBC – A local favourite! Not the easiest half, but certainly one of the most rewarding!

West Yorkshire Winter League Cross Country Race 2023 – Date TBC

Huddersfield Parkrun – Send me your best Parkrun time from 1st April 2022 – 31st March 2023

There is no minimum number of events required to qualify, although the more races you run (a maximum of 8 races to count) the more points you will accumulate. In the event of a tie at the end of the season the runner who has scored the most outright victories will be declared the overall winner.

I will arrange to have the Website updated. Any queries, please give me a shout!

Get entering!

Calderdale Way Relay - Sun 15th May 2022

Hello Stadium Runners,
The countdown has begun to the UK's biggest off road relay race.

Please see below again our 4 teams for this year and good luck to all involved !

We are short however of a Male sub should the need arise. Please do get in touch if you are interested.
As you will know by now, club kit must be worn. This consists of red/white vest or the red/white training top. Hi-Viz yellow training tops are not permitted.
Check out Halifax Harriers website for details of what kit you need to carry. The event is classed as a Fell race and therefore FRA kit guidelines must be adhered to. Teams face disqualifications even if one runner isn't carrying the correct kit. Random kit checks are done. Don't let your team buddies down.
You MUST carry:-
  • A map of the course - available from the website
  • Whistle
  • Compass
  • Hat (not a buff !)
  • Gloves
  • Full waterproof body cover with taped seams (ie waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers)
  • Water/food if you wish
We also recommend you recce the route with your partner beforehand, however Halifax Harriers do organise an official recce day nearer the event.
You MUST be a paid-up member of the club to take part in this race.

Trial Stadium Running

Have you got a running friend who hasn't yet experienced the delights of Stadium Runners?

The good news is if they want to have a couple of trial training runs with the Club, then it can be arranged.

Just send Alison their name & email address to and we will send them the details.
Run Leaders Required

Stadium Runners is always very grateful to all our run leaders, new and not so new. Stadium Runners simply wouldn’t happen without the dedication and commitment of run leaders who regularly give up their time to ensure all the groups stay safe and have a fun and challenging experience. But particularly over the last few months, our run leaders have been fantastic and we owe it to them that the Club has been able to offer safe and enjoyable sessions again.

We are always looking for new run leaders and can offer training, equipment and lots of support. The chance to say “not far now” and “that’s all the hills done” and other well known motivational (but not always true) phrases.

This course is now available as a virtual course. England Athletics have announced a number of dates for a new online Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course, and they plan to release more dates in the future.

If you would like to know more about how to join this amazing team, email Bridget at or ring me on 07540 434573
