Stadium Runners AGM
Our AGM will be taken place at 7pm on Tuesday 26th April at the Stadium (room tbc, not on Zoom as previously stated). All paid up Stadium members are welcome to attend, so please do join us!
It would be great to see some new faces at the meeting, and of course at our committee meetings too. We have a couple of roles available this year, so if you are interested, please let Ashleigh know ahead of the AGM.
Social Secretary - Now we can socialise again it would be great to have someone take a lead on this for us and make sure we spend some time together outside of our training nights! This role is very much appreciated by the club and really helps moral amongst the runners! This person would also lead on organising our awards night, with much support from the committee. How great would it be to finally have an awards night again?!
Run Leader Rota - We would like to appeal for someone to manage the Run Leader rota please. This has been done by Ashleigh for a few years now and it would be nice to have a fresh pair of eyes to look at this. It's nice and straight forward to do (Ashleigh can share the system!) and keeps the club organised on training nights.
Also, if anyone wants to join the committee in general, in a non specific role, then you are absolutely more than welcome to do so!
If you have any questions ahead of the meeting, please do speak to Ashleigh or another member of the committee.

http://www.saddleworth-runners.co.uk/cake-race

https://www.slrc.club/bluebell
Buxton Half Marathon Sunday 29th May at 10am. – Single lap route taking in views of the lovely Peak District countryside. A rather big hill in the first 6 miles!
https://buxtonhalf.com/

https://www.halifaxharriers.co.uk/club.../helen-windsor-10k/
The Hepworth Trail Wednesday July 20th at 7.30pm – A Newie! Our friends at Summer Wine Trails have a new race for 2022! 5 hilly miles around the Holme Valley!

Ambles Revenge, Penistone Date TBC – 8 Miles of steep trails and dare I say it ‘fells’. A few club members ran the race in 2021 and noted how horrifically tough the race was so as Race Secretary I feel it is only fair that others suffer this year.
https://racebest.com/races/sv62v(link to 2021 Race)
Kirkstall Calverley Cutter Sunday 28th Jan 2023 at 11am 10 Mile race along the River Aire taking in the surrounding countryside.

West Yorkshire Winter League Cross Country Race 2023 – Date TBC
Huddersfield Parkrun – Send me your best Parkrun time from 1st April 2022 – 31st March 2023

I will arrange to have the Website updated. Any queries, please give me a shout!
Get entering!
Thanks

Calderdale Way Relay - Sun 15th May 2022
Hello Stadium Runners,
The countdown has begun to the UK's biggest off road relay race.
Please see below again our 4 teams for this year and good luck to all involved !
We are short however of a Male sub should the need arise. Please do get in touch if you are interested. |
|
As you will know by now, club kit must be worn. This consists of red/white vest or the red/white training top. Hi-Viz yellow training tops are not permitted.
Check out Halifax Harriers website for details of what kit you need to carry. The event is classed as a Fell race and therefore FRA kit guidelines must be adhered to. Teams face disqualifications even if one runner isn't carrying the correct kit. Random kit checks are done. Don't let your team buddies down.
You MUST carry:-
- A map of the course - available from the website
- Whistle
- Compass
- Hat (not a buff !)
- Gloves
- Full waterproof body cover with taped seams (ie waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers)
- Water/food if you wish
We also recommend you recce the route with your partner beforehand, however Halifax Harriers do organise an official recce day nearer the event.
You MUST be a paid-up member of the club to take part in this race.

Trial Stadium Running
Have you got a running friend who hasn't yet experienced the delights of Stadium Runners?
The good news is if they want to have a couple of trial training runs with the Club, then it can be arranged.
Just send Alison their name & email address to membership@stadiumrunners.co.uk and we will send them the details.

Run Leaders Required
Stadium Runners is always very grateful to all our run leaders, new and not so new. Stadium Runners simply wouldn’t happen without the dedication and commitment of run leaders who regularly give up their time to ensure all the groups stay safe and have a fun and challenging experience. But particularly over the last few months, our run leaders have been fantastic and we owe it to them that the Club has been able to offer safe and enjoyable sessions again.
We are always looking for new run leaders and can offer training, equipment and lots of support. The chance to say “not far now” and “that’s all the hills done” and other well known motivational (but not always true) phrases.
This course is now available as a virtual course. England Athletics have announced a number of dates for a new online Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course, and they plan to release more dates in the future.
If you would like to know more about how to join this amazing team, email Bridget at libramac@me.com or ring me on 07540 434573
